Dear fellow Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy,
Today is my 51st birthday, and nothing would make me happier in my “old age” and my 12th year here in your parish than to have each family and every individual on our mailing list respond to this fascinating and thrilling letter by filling out the enclosed pledge card and bringing it back to church, or dropping it in the mail, today!
How’s that for an appeal?
As you recently read in our parish bulletin, generous people like you made it possible for us to reach and even exceed our goal for 2009. The rebate we received from Archbishop Niederauer will be put to good use here at OLM – most recently, the repair of the drainage pipes that keep our property from flooding during the huge rains we’ve been experiencing.
Each year about this time, our Archbishop asks us to join his efforts to provide programs and ministries to the people of the Archdiocese of San Francisco through our participation in the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. In the Gospel of Matthew we are reminded over and over that we have benefited from God’s providence. Each of us has been richly blessed and we can each find some way to give back to God. The ministries funded by the Appeal reach the poor, the homeless, youth, senior citizens, the disabled, the sick, and others. These ministries and services aid virtually every Catholic in need, and the Appeal also helps evangelize many who have not heard the Good News of Jesus. Every Catholic in the Archdiocese is asked to consider participation in these programs. One hundred percent of the funds from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal 2010 will be used for the ministries and programs listed in this guide and in the campaign brochure.
Our assessment or “tax” this year is $73,300. Any money raised in beyond this amount will be used for our own parish needs – which are legion. When maintaining a parish plant that is fifty years old, there is always some new need that crops up: roof, bathroom, parking lot, doors, heaters, etc. If you prefer to donate online, go to:

Enclosed is a brochure that gives more information about this important Appeal and the ministries and programs that it funds. God bless you for your stewardship and for your support of the efforts of our Church to share our abundance with those in need.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father William E. Brown - Pastor Our Lady of Mercy Church 1 Elmwood Drive Daly City, CA 94015-3424
