Papal Audience
(click on tiny picture to view original)
A Papal Audience
is always an event. Travelling to this audience with the group on sabbatical
meant we had to go "together". There was only one ticket for all forty
of us. We travelled from the college to the square. Jostling for seats
right up near the pope was a task handled by our director. The first picture
below is me, of course, with one of the other priests, Fr. Tom Goekler,
MM. He is on his way after the sabbatical to work in Central America and
is a great man with a great spirit. The other pictures show the audience
in various states of happening. They are small since even a close seat
to the pope is relatively distant unless one has complicated photographic
equipment - they are really meant to give you a sense of the event.
We did have an opportunity
for a group picture with the pope after the audience but in the rush to
be situated and my thoughts that I already had a face to face meeting with
John Paul II, I "humbly" stayed in the background and was ever so humble
that I got blocked out of the pictures!!! So much for being the quiet type.
Thus no group shot on these pages since it would be hard to put me in the
scene - ha ha ha.
On to the final days of this saga in the next couple of installments
culminating in the finale on November 25 - the last day of the program
which ends after BREAKFAST!!!!
