TICKETS TICKETS TICKETS
Along any tour or trek there are small things which are
overlooked in the course of checking out the bigger scene. One of those
things which always impresses me in my limited travels is the use of tickets
throughout the world. In our experience unless we have a FAST PASS on Muni
or the likes, our tickets are very pragmatic, seemingly straighforward
and disposable. In Europe and around the world tickets are not only a means
to admission and use of a facility or service. They are an indication of
the appeal, beauty and even help remembering the event. With all respect
they are like tickets to NFL games which are printed on good stock, use
many colors and celebrate the team that they represent. This long prelude
is one given to showing some of the tickets for this trip. They range from
one for admission to Eagle's Nest in Germany to the Beatification of Mother
Guerin in St. Peter's Square. They include tickets used to ride mass transit
in Munich, Rome and Vienna. They are a testimony to the events and their
value for me as well as their place in a scrapbook of a sabbatical.

One final ticket is a sample of the admission gained to a museum.
Not only does the ticket allow entry but it also shows one of the many
pieces of art available to the viewer.
Sabbatical comes to a close. Travel home
to California must take advantage of the distance and friends to visit
en route. This is the end of the journal but not the end of the story by
any means. The continuation of the saga of a sabbatical will continue in
the work of parish life and ministry in the Church and especially at olmcath.org.
My hope is that this journey has been enjoyable to all who have made it
with me and will continue to be fruitful for the church in San Francisco
and especially at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Daly City, CA - "SECOND TO
NONE". This the parish that always saves the "...best wine until last..."
as our pastor, Fr. Curso, always reminds us!!!!!
And so I conclude with Cimabue's classic image
of St. Francis, patron of Assisi, Italy, San Francisco and most memorable
the church of my Baptism in Omaha, Nebraska. It is a fitting tribute and
reminder to me of my life heritage to this point.
