The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (the RCIA) is a group experience for people interested in joining the Catholic Church. If you are interested in our RCIA, please call the rectory today, or email our RCIA Director, Danny O'Regan, for more information.
The RCIA here at Our Lady of Mercy Parish involves group meetings Sunday mornings at the Parish Center (15 Elmwood Drive), then attending the 10:30 a.m. Mass together, learning about prayer, and discussing what it means to be a Catholic Christian. There are also special "rites" or rituals throughout the year, which mark the progress of the members as we journey through the liturgical seasons of Advent, Christmastime, Lent and Eastertime.
The high point of the RCIA journey is the Easter Vigil Mass, which is celebrated Saturday evening, the day before Easter. During this special Mass, the new Catholics are baptized, confirmed, and receive Eucharist for the first time as full-fledged Catholics.
